Kimberly Emmons is associate professor of English whose research broadly focuses on medical rhetoric, with special concentration on constructions of mental health and illness. Among the courses she teaches are “Rhetorics of Health and Illness,” “The History of the English Language,” and “Language and Gender.” Emmons also has contributed extensively to the university’s work to strengthen the teaching of writing on campus, including leadership of the university’s writing program.

Research Interests
I joined the English department at Case Western Reserve in fall 2003. My primary scholarly interests include: medical rhetoric, writing studies, and English language and linguistics.
My research focuses on medical rhetoric, especially contemporary linguistic and rhetorical constructions of (mental) health and illness.
