April Firstencel has worked at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC) since January 2010. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout her working life, she has worked in research labs, and taught in public schools and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

April initially joined the Case CCC team as the registration/results reporting coordinator for Clinicaltrials.gov and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Clinical Trials Reporting Program (CTRP) databases. Currently, she is the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC) Manager and Administrator of the OnCore Clinical Trials Management Database. She is active in the Onsemble community in attending webinars and conferences that involve many of the cancer centers around the country that use OnCore. The Onsemble community connects us with our peers in the industry to discuss best practices, share experiences, and improve our operations. 

PRMC Manager

As PRMC Manager, April coordinates and oversees the Case CCC PRMC. She serves as a resource for PRMC chairs, members, reviewers, faculty and staff. She reviews all new study submissions, helps investigators and research staff with the development and submission of PRMC related documents, determines appropriate levels of review, and coordinates reviewer assignment and PRMC meetings. April also manages and coordinates functions such as accrual monitoring and protocol prioritization efforts and develop and revise PRMC related forms, policies, standard operating procedures, and protocol templates.

OnCore Administrator

As OnCore Administrator, April oversee all activities related to the OnCore Clinical Trials Management System, including registration and training of users, quality control and quality assurance of database entries, data reporting and troubleshooting. She works closely with Forte, the company that developed OnCore, on federal regulatory requirements and future enhancements through focus groups and conferences.
