Paul J. Elson, ScD has been the head of the Cancer Biostatistics department at the Cleveland Clinic since 1993. He has been the Biostatistics Core Director at the General Clinical Research Center from 2005 to 2007. Since March 2015, he has been a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. He started his career as a statistician in the Department of Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1979 and was a statistician for the Division of Biostatistics for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute from 1979 to 1991. Dr. Elson earned his BA in biology, math, and chemistry from Hofstra University in 1976. In 1982, he earned his MS in biostatistics from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He received his doctor of science degree in biostatistics from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1991.
