Conference Travel Grant

The Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable (WISER) offers an award program for women students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional) attending conferences or professional enrichment opportunities (including trainings, academic meetings, etc.) in STEM. These awards help offset the cost of travel, lodging, and registration fees. Students are not required to present at a conference or meeting in order to be eligible.

The fund supports expenses which are not currently being funded by another CWRU department. Grants are awarded in amounts up to $800. Awardees are required to submit a report summarizing their experiences at the meeting or conference. Funds are limited and we may not be able to award all applicants. Funds are limited and we may not be able to award all applicants. After the event, recipients are required to write a statement about how the experience related to their academic program at CWRU, what they learned from the experience, and how the experience will assist them towards their future STEM career. It is requested that recipients also include a photo of themselves at the conference or meeting they attended.

Application Review

Applications will be reviewed by a board of WISER faculty advisors and staff on three criteria: financial need, how the event will enrich the student’s academic experience and professional networks, and alignment with the student’s career goals.

Students may receive up to $800 for costs associated with travel, lodging, and registration fees. Original receipts should be submitted within 30 days of the expense for reimbursement, along with a complete Travel & Expense Form.
