“It is a prime time to make a leap into the industry amidst this tech revolution going on,” said Ryan Fearon when asked about the benefit of the Case Western Reserve University Boot Camps. It’s not surprising to hear this from Fearon who successfully advanced his career after completing the Data Analytics Boot Camp in January 2021.

When Fearon, of Fairlawn, Ohio, began the Boot Camp he was employed as a Sales Engineer within the industrial manufacturing sector and was hoping to make a career transition within the technology sector. The Boot Camp program was recommended to him by a friend, and the fact that it was through Case Western Reserve University positively influenced his decision to move forward with enrollment. The part-time nature of the program allowed Fearon to complete the courses and associated assignments during evenings and weekends while still working during the day to cover the tuition cost.

Fearon shared that the Boot Camp was an excellent overall experience for him, “I enjoyed my classmates and became friends with several of them, connected with my professor and TA and utilized weekly tutoring to help with assignments or to just brush on course material. The coursework was challenging and moved at a rapid pace, but I was able to overcome this by applying myself and taking advantage of resources.”

Fearon was able to swiftly transition into a new job upon gaining these new skills, “I quickly secured a new job as a Sales Engineer at a software company. The position is remote, pay is higher, company culture and work-life balance are much better. The position is a perfect blend of my past sales engineering experience and coding skills learned at the Boot Camp, which I’m actively continuing to develop on the job.”

After his overall positive experience both with the Boot Camp program and the impact on his career, Fearon enthusiastically recommends the Boot Camps to others, “if you have the strong desire to make the transition, anyone can do it – regardless of your background.”
