Department Offering New CBCT Consult Service
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the CWRU School of Dental Medicine has introduced a consult service to review Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scans. The program is overseen by Dr. Ali Z Syed, Oral and Maxillofacial radiologist, board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (ABOMR). All the CBCT scans undergo a systematic review, ensuring confidence to the referring dentists. Each report is very thorough and is designed to address clinical questions. All CBCT DICOM files can be uploaded through HIPAA-compliant website Bright Squid. Image interpretation is done with a quick turnaround time.
For more information, contact Dr. Syed at 216.368.6802 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Oral Pathology Laboratory
The laboratory is the center of service to the dentist and their patients. The surgical pathology report provided by the oral pathologist is often the critical element for proper diagnosis, and therefore, appropriate treatment. In almost all cases, the pathologist is able to determine a definitive diagnosis, or histopathologic diagnosis, as a sound basis for patient care. The School maintains a laboratory that meets the standards for ongoing CLIA certification by the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services and is inspected biannually by the Ohio Department of Health for compliance. To contact the lab, call 216.368.4260.
