Responsible for administrative Linux servers, implementing server orchestration and management (Puppet Enterprise, Ansible,
and Red Hat Satellite 6.x).
Implemented Amazon AWS-hosted systems as DR site and hybrid-cloud server infrastructure. Re-architected Oracle database server
infrastructure for fully virtualized environment. Retired legacy SAN storage environemnt in favor of dedicated
VM storage and scale-out NAS (EMC Isilon).
Provide Level III tech. support as needed in both administrative and HPC server environments.
2013-2016 ITS Engineer 3, Build organization
Responsible for implementation of large legacy application server migration project, continued design
of new and upgraded systems. Projects include LDAP infrastructure migration, design and vendor selection
for Identity Management system, design and assist with implementation of updated HPC (High-Performance Compute)
cluster components and performance-oriented "Science DMZ" (40/100 GB ethernet network and Linux-based
data transfer and performance monitoring nodes).

Direct supervision of 3 employees
Managed implementation of 3 generations of SANs (EMC Clariion and Symmetrix),
NAS (EMC Celerra), FC and iSCSI storage networks (Brocade & Cisco switches).
Oversaw implementation of 2 generations of enterprise backup (EMC EDM and Legato
Networker 7.x) for SAN, NAS, and network servers (including using SRDF,
BCV/Clone, and snapshot technologies).
Implemented high-availability server systems for University-wide application servers
(Veritas v. 3.5-5.0 clustering for e-mail and Oracle
servers; prototyped Oracle RAC clusters with Oracle ASM storage).
Developed and implemented consistent, repeatable OS install process (both script
and image based).

Supervised 7 direct reports, oversaw operation of all servers in university's
central IT division plus the management school.
Worked with upper management to define and begin migrating to a simplified OS
and hardware environment (2 hardware platforms and 3 operating systems only (Windows 2000+,
Solaris 8+, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3+).
Implemented 2 generations of virtualization for Linux servers (VMware GSX and ESX).

Developed third-generation fault-tolerant Software
Library servers (using NetWare 4.1 SFT III); assisted with initial NetWare 4.1
NDS development on campus; continued oversight of technical development of
Web server. Currently beginning a large project to upgrade obsolete &
unreliable NetWare 3.x server farm to modern, fault-tolerant server-class
hardware and NetWare 4.1 environment. Deployed NetWare 5.0, 5.1, and 6.0
upgrades, including conversion to IP-only environment and "clientless"
(native file access for Windows/Mac (CIFS, AFP)).
Implemented first Oracle 8.1.x production servers for enterprise web server
and Learning Managment System (Blackboard).
1992-1995 DMS Facilities Manager
Did initial research and implementation of Gopher and HTTP (WorldWide Web)
servers. Developed and maintained AppleShare and NetWare based file servers
providing a campus-wide application library, with rigorous license metering and
anti-piracy measures. Managed large-scale campus Web server development.
1990-1992 Computer Lab Supervisor. Responsible for hiring, training,
and supervision of student employees in two computer labs(15-20 students/year).
Technical liaison
between libraries, campus networking department, and contractors during
installation of a state-of-the-art fiber-optic network in library buildings.
Provided technical support for library staff on a variety
of microcomputer systems, applications, and network software packages. Provided
training for library staff on network software.

with software selection and use, maintaining lab hardware, and troubleshooting
software and hardware problems. Required proficiency in a wide variety of
software packages, including word processing, spreadsheet, DTP, bitmap and
object-based graphics, databases, and network software.

1985-1990 Auditor. Took retail inventory in a variety of stores. Required
to furnish accurate counts as quickly as possible, without disturbance to store
customers. Also assisted with automation of report generation and accounting
using standard PC software packages.
