Retraining

Online retraining is done through your Canvas dashboard.

Hazard Communication training is required for employees who will be, or may be exposed to hazardous substances. Your training varies based on your position within the university. Topics may include: ancillary radiation safety, bloodborne pathogen standard.

Who should train?

Those who will—or may—come in contact with regulated hazardous substances.

Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Police and security personnel
    • Hazard Communication for Police and Security
  • Plant and maintenance workers
    • Hazard Communication for Plant and Maintenance
  • Dental, Nursing and Medical Students and Staff
    • General Hazard Communication
  • Custodial crews,
  • ITS personnel,
  • Contractors and
  • Architects.

Can I train online?

New workers (or those more than a year out of date) must attend Hazard Communication Training in-person.

If you’ve already had training, you must retrain online each year.

General Training

  • For lab workers and clinicians

  • Includes Ancillary Radiation Safety training

Police and Security

  • For police and security personnel
  • Includes the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and Ancillary Radiation Safety training 

Plant and Maintenance

  • For plant and maintenance workers
  • Includes the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and Ancillary Radiation Safety training

How to sign up for online training:

All online training is done through Canvas. Log in and visit your portal to review your required training courses.

In-person training

New workers (or those more than a year out of date) must attend Hazard Communication Training in-person or on Zoom. NOTE: EHS is currently only using ZOOM for trainings until further notice. Preregistration is required for all training. Class sizes are limited, so make sure to sign up as soon as you are made aware of this training.

How to sign up for in-person/Zoom training:

Hazard Communication training sessions are held every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Sign up online in advance as class sizes are limited.
