Nancy Tinsley

Tinsley is a transformative healthcare executive recognized for leading strategic excellence, designing scale and driving success in execution and impact. Her career includes leadership and board positions in healthcare, professional societies and academic organizations. She focuses her work on the continual advancement of health care as an innovator and entrepreneur.
A longtime health system executive, Tinsley has a thorough understanding of the everchanging nature of healthcare and a record of launching futuristic models of healthcare delivery. Across her career, she has developed a reputation as a passionate, innovative leader – skilled at defining strategic opportunities and goals, teaching teams to think strategically and implementing changes to solve operational challenges. She is adept at developing partnerships, building and advancing highly reliable teams and encouraging innovative thinking across hospital systems. In her role as an adjunct faculty member at Case Western Reserve University, Tinsley advanced the interdisciplinary healthcare curriculum that is considered the gold standard in teaching performance improvement, change management and team effectiveness. 
She began her career as a nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital and immediately acted upon the opportunity to advance healthcare. Becoming a leader early on gave her the opportunity to inspire teams to accomplish collective goals. After 14 years at St. Luke’s she joined the Cleveland Clinic in leading at the children’s hospital for four years and was then recruited by University Hospitals to design and scale their service lines for 12 years. She served as a hospital president in Cleveland, Rochester, NY and Chicago with a key focus on strategic system integration. In these roles, Tinsley created success in revenue and market share growth, brand equity, safety and quality outcomes, recruitment and retention and leadership. 
Her executive work focuses on health system strategic planning, clinical and systems integration, creating physician alignment and advancing health care services across the continuum. She has advanced experience in performance improvement, business analytics, systems thinking and leadership development.  
Her passion for leading is a natural aspect of her brand. As a certified leadership coach, and as a student of resonant leadership and emotional intelligence, she enjoys the privilege of inspiring and leading teams through great challenges to achieve uncommon goals. 
Tinsley has a Master of Business, Master of Healthcare Administration from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University. She is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), a certified leadership coach and a graduate of the Executive Leadership Academy at CWRU's Weatherhead School of Management.

Tinsley is a member and leader of several professional organizations, including the ACHE, In Counsel with Women and the Executive Women’s Leadership Forum. Among other awards, she received the YWCA Woman of Achievement award and was named to the Crain’s Cleveland Business Women of Note the same year.

Tinsley is published in multiple professional publications, including the Joint Commission Journal on Quality Improvement, and is a frequent panelist, moderator and presenter at forums on leadership, hospital system operations and performance management.
