Emeriti
4:00 p.m. Emeriti faculty* will robe in the Taplin Room of Severance Music Center.
4:30 p.m. Emeriti will walk inside the Main Hall and assemble in the Grand Foyer, where they will wait for the faculty procession.
Emeriti will follow the Platform Party and lead the faculty inside the Main Hall, double file, except when reaching the side aisles, when the formation will split and march single file down the respective aisles and enter their assigned row.
*If members of the emeriti cannot march the full route with the procession, they can walk directly to the auditorium to take their seats.
Faculty
4:00 p.m. Faculty should line up double file in Smith Lobby of Severance Hall (ground level), following the list provided by event staff. The Distinguished University Professors who will be recognized during the 2022 ceremony will march with the platform party and should report to the First Energy Room to march with the platform party (see instructions below). Distinguished University Professors recognized prior to 2022 should march with the faculty who line up in the Smith Lobby of Severance Music Center.
4:30 p.m. Faculty marshals should exit Smith Lobby facing Euclid Avenue and process down the sidewalk and split formation to line up on either side of the grand staircase outside Severance Music Center.
Once the faculty lines are in position on the grand staircase, event staff will provide a cue to the platform party to begin the procession down Euclid Avenue and pass through the two columns of faculty. The platform party will enter the Grand Foyer followed by the banner guard, emeriti and faculty.
When faculty lines reach the Grand Foyer, they will pause and allow the emeriti to join the line behind the Platform Party and lead into the main hall.
The procession will always march double file and enter through center doorways, but will split formation and march single file via the side aisles. The faculty will be seated in the audience in reserved seats in the center section of the orchestra level behind the emeriti.
Platform Party
4:00 p.m. Platform party will assemble in the First Energy Room inside Severance Music Center.
4:35 p.m. Platform party will exit the building facing Euclid Avenue on the terrace in double file lines. (In case of inclement weather, the procession will line up in the Taplin Room and process downstairs through the Smith Lobby). The faculty will be lined up on the exterior grand staircase of Severance Music Center and the platform party will pass through this configuration.
The procession will march two abreast, except when reaching the back of the Main Hall side aisles. At that point the formation will split and march single file down the respective aisles and up the stage side staircases to the appropriate seats. Each seat on stage will have a name tent to indicate the proper seating arrangement.
The Distinguished University Professors who will be recognized during the 2022 ceremony will march with the platform party and should report to the First Energy Room. Distinguished University Professors recognized prior to 2022 should march with the faculty who line up in the Smith Lobby of Severance Music Center.
