First-year room selection opens Thursday, June 8

Beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Thursday, June 8, first-year students can choose their room through our online housing assignment system. It is important that you read the information carefully on the First-Year Room Selection website

Once you select your room and confirm it, you will not be able to change your housing assignment for any reason until the room change process begins during the second week of classes of the fall semester, depending on room availability.

Medical Accommodations
If you have an approved medical accommodation for a specific room type, University Housing will assign you to a room that meets your needs.  You should not choose a room online if this applies to you. We do hold rooms specifically for approved medical accommodations. If you feel you need a specific medical accommodation, please review the information from the Office of Disability Resources about obtaining approval for a medical accommodation.

Students approved for air conditioning only can choose a room through the room selection process.

Gender-Inclusive Housing
If you are a transgender student, a student exploring gender identity, non-binary, or are gender non-conforming and would like to discuss your housing options, please contact the LGBT Center at 216.368.1237 and request to speak with Devin Taylor, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator at the LGBT Center, or Office of University Housing at 216.368.3780 or housing@case.edu and request to speak to Josh Cline, Resident Services Coordinator for the first- & second-year experience programs.

You can also indicate on your housing application that you would like to live in Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH), and we will follow up with you individually. We have identified rooms in the first-year halls for gender-inclusive housing.  Learn more details about the program.

Roommate information
Once you complete your housing application, you can search for a roommate through our online room selection link on MyHousing.  You can search for roommates by name, CWRU network ID, lifestyle characteristics or through suggestions based on your lifestyle characteristics.  Create a group and then invite your roommate to your group. They will have the choice to accept or deny the invitation.  Once your group is complete, you can submit your group for the room selection process.  Only the group leader is able to go online to choose the room.  Please make sure you discuss your building and room preferences with your roommate ahead of time!
Remember, it is not necessary to have a roommate to choose a room online.

Available rooms
Not all rooms are available at the start of the process. University Housing will release additional rooms on the following days
Thursday, June 15 at 7 p.m.
Thursday, June 22 at 7 p.m.

Please review this tutorial on How to Use the Online Room Selection System.

Confirmation
Once you select your room and confirm it, you will not be able to change your housing assignment for any reason until the room change process begins during the second week of classes of the fall semester depending on room availability.
