The Graduate Studies staff was excited watching all our graduates walk the stage at Commencement last month. It has been our pleasure to work with each of you over the years from admission to graduation. We wish you the best of luck on the next steps of your journey.
Summer Graduates: Application, Waiver of Registration, Submit Final Materials
The 2019 Commencement ceremony may be done but we're already looking toward the next graduation! If you intend to finish this summer, you must complete the online application for Summer 2019 graduation in SIS by Friday, June 7th.
Optionally, any student interested in utilizing the Waiver of Registration must apply to graduate in SIS, submit the Waiver Form to Graduate Studies, and submit all graduation materials by June 7th. See the Waiver of Registration policy here. The form, graduation materials, and instructions can be found in the Graduation section of the SGS website.
If you do not need the Waiver of Registration and are enrolled in courses over the summer semester, the deadline to submit all Final Materials for Summer 2019 graduation is July 5th. Submission of Final Materials includes uploading your approved Electronic Thesis or Dissertation to OhioLINK. So be sure to submit your ETD to Graduate Studies for the required format check in plenty of time to meet this deadline. See the online instructions for details. Please note the University and our office are closed July 4th so please plan accordingly.

John S. Diekhoff Award for Graduate Teaching and Mentoring
Also at the May 1st ceremony, the Graduate Student Council presented this year's winners of the John S. Diekhoff Award for Graduate Teaching and Mentoring which were then awarded during the School of Graduate Studies diploma ceremony as part of Commencement.

Need funding for an upcoming conference? There is still time to receive the Verhosek Fund (up to $250) to assist with expenses when presenting at a conference or event. Check out our Fellowships and Awards page and read carefully for specific rules and regulations to see if you qualify.
Starting July 1st we will begin accepting applications for the Graduate Student Travel Award again.
Uptown Summer Events
View the schedule of free summer fun in the Uptown District. Enjoy live music, outdoor fitness classes and games. Special events include celebrating the 50th anniversaries of the Moon landing, Woodstock, and the last time the Cuyahoga caught fire!
Wade Oval Wednesdays are Back!
Every Wednesday from June 12 through August 21 (excluding July 3rd), University Circle will host free concerts in Wade Oval from 6-9pm. Enjoy family-friendly activities, music, vendors and food trucks! Check out the music lineup for WOW.
