Fall Orientation got the new semester moving!

    Academics

    Apply for January Graduation

    The deadline to apply to graduate in January 2010 is Friday, October 4. You can find graduation information with detailed requirements here. Degrees will be awarded on January 17, 2020. There is no diploma ceremony in January. But if you plan to attend the 2020 Commencement in May, you will also need register for the ceremony in the spring semester. Be on the lookout for details after the New Year.

    Verify your Final Exams

    Take a moment now to verify your final exam dates and times with your syllabi and your professors. Make sure all of your travel plans for winter break are after your final exams. Exams will not be rescheduled due to travel conflicts.

    Holidays, parental leave, sick leave & vacation policies

    Need to take some time off? Graduate students receiving a stipend should be aware of our policy on graduate student holidays, vacation, parental leave, and sick leave. Note that this policy applies during the period of support and represents the minimum to which graduate students are entitled.

    Coalition for Next Generation Life Science

    Case Western Reserve University has joined other research institutions as part of the Coalition for Next Generation Life Science with the aim to give would-be life scientists clear, standardized data on graduate schools. You can view detailed statistics on admissions, degree completion rates, demographics, and more for 17 PhD programs in the life sciences under the School of Graduate Studies. You can also see the data visualizations here.

        Apply for a study space at KSL

        Graduate students can apply to reserve a study carrel at Kelvin Smith Library for your own use over the entire academic year. Apply by Thursday, September 26 to be entered in a lottery to get your own quiet study space!

        Add a preferred name, personal pronoun, or gender identity in SIS

        We recognize that many CWRU students use names other than their legal names to identify themselves. Check out how to Add a Preferred Name or Personal Pronoun or Gender Identity in SIS.

        Also on Monday, September 23 from 11:00am to 3:00pm in KSL LL06, the LGBT Center will host a meet-up to update personal info in Canvas, SIS, CampusGroups, MyHealthConnect, and more.

        Diversity 360 Graduate Student Series

        Join the 2019-2020 cohort of graduate students to further explore topics introduced through the Diversity 360 program during monthly facilitated sessions. RSVP for the next session on Understanding those who are Undocumented at 5:30pm on Tuesday, October 8 in Crawford 011.

        Get your flu shot!

        Be prepared - free flue shots are available to all CWRU students at several opportunities over the next few weeks. RSVP's welcome but not required.

        Electric scooters on campus

        As you may have seen, there's a new way to get around campus and Cleveland! Make sure you review safety and other tips about using the new dockless, electric scooters.

        Apply for Sears think[box] funding

        Grad students can apply for the Student Project Fund for up to $1000 from Think[box] to support personal projects, team projects, design competitions, entrepreneurial activities, and more! Apply by December 31.

        GSTA & V-Fund for travel funding!

        Need funding for an upcoming conference? The Graduate Student Travel Award (GSTA) is still accepting applications - but funds are going fast! Please review the new checklist introduced this summer. We also continue to accept applications for the Verhosek Fund (V-Fund). Both awards are to support graduate students presenting a paper or poster at a conference. Check out our Fellowships and Awards page and read carefully for specific rules and requirements for each award to see if you qualify.
