Congratulations to Our Award Winners!

We wish to again congratulate all the recipients at the Graduate Student Awards Ceremony this spring, returning to the ballroom in Tink after two years virtual. You can watch the ceremony on YouTube, view photos from the in-person event, and download individual slides for each winner.

Nearly 150 students were honored with awards from the College of Arts and Sciences, the Case School of Engineering, the Weatherhead School of Management, the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, the School of Medicine, the Center for International Affairs, and the School of Graduate Studies, presented by faculty, staff, and students from each school.

Academics

Summer Graduates: Submit Final Materials

The deadline to submit all Final Materials for Summer 2022 graduation is Friday, July 8. Submission of Final Materials includes uploading your approved Electronic Thesis or Dissertation to OhioLINK. Be sure to submit your ETD to Graduate Studies for the required format check in plenty of time to meet this deadline. See the online instructions for details.

Summer Course Withdrawal

If you are enrolled in a course this summer and need to withdraw, review the Summer 2022 Enrollment Dates + Deadlines page (scroll down to the Grad section) to confirm the last possible day to do so. For most classes, a withdrawal is to be done in SIS. See the University Registrar's page on class registration (start at #20) for instructions.

When you drop the individual course, you will receive a grade of W on your transcript and you will receive a 0% tuition refund. If you have more questions or are unsure whether you should drop the individual course, speak to your professor and/or advisor before making the decision to withdraw.

Spring 2022 Diplomas

As of the week of June 13, all diplomas for May 2022 graduates that were not picked up in person have been mailed to your Diploma Mailing Address on file with the University. Please watch for it to arrive in the coming days or weeks if you haven't received your diploma yet.


Campus Community

Juneteenth & Independence Day

The University and our office will be closed on Monday, June 20 in observance of Juneteenth and on Monday, July 4 in observance of American Independence Day. Check out some local Juneteenth events celebrating African American culture, reflecting on the past and present, and encouraging discussion for a better future.

Also as a reminder, our office will close at 3:00pm EDT every Friday in June and July as part of CWRU Take Two.

Additional Awards for Grad Students

In addition to our own Graduate Award Ceremony this spring, several graduate students and alumni at CWRU are recipients of other recent awards.

John S. Diekhoff Awards for Faculty

Also at the April 26 Graduate Student Awards Ceremony, the student-run selection committee presented this year's faculty winners of the John S. Diekhoff Award for Graduate Teaching and Mentoring, who were then officially recognized during Commencement on May 15. Read about the amazing achievements of each winner and why the graduate student body nominated them for these prestigious awards!

Funding Available for Conferences!

Need funding for an upcoming conference? If you are presenting, you can apply for one of our two travel awards: the Graduate Student Travel Award (GSTA) and the Verhosek Fund (V-Fund). Check out our fellowships and awards page and carefully read the eligibility and specific requirements for each award.

Wade Oval Wednesdays are Back!

Every Wednesday evening from June 15 through August 17, University Circle will host free concerts in Wade Oval. Enjoy family-friendly activities, music, vendors, food trucks, and more!

SA&L Grad Assistant Needed!

The Office of Student Activities & Leadership is need of graduate student assistants! Students looking for an opportunity to strengthen your organizational and written communication skills, enhance your project management skills, and discover and incubate areas of personal interest should apply by Friday, July 1 for first consideration.

Parking Permits on Campus

Student parking permits for the fall semester are now available for purchase either online or in-person at Access Services in the basement of Crawford. Each lot is first-come first-serve and some may be filling up so please get your permit as soon as possible.

CWRU Veale Athletic Center Track

Renew Lockers in Veale

If you currently have a locker at Veale Rec Center, you must either renew it or remove all items by Thursday, June 30. The cost for students to renew lockers for the 2022-2023 academic year is $44. Stop by the Issue Room (B44) in the lower level of Veale to renew.

Take a Walk on Campus

Going for a walk is a great way to get exercise, fresh air, see more of University Circle, and relax. Check out these maps for some walking paths you can follow to get outside and get moving this summer!
