Inauguration Stress

In normal years, an inauguration can be challenging, but the upcoming presidential inauguration is causing many people to experience an even greater level of anxiety. When coupled with tensions already heightened due to the pandemic, people may feel they need additional tools to get through the next few weeks. The resources below can help you manage conflict resulting from differences in political opinion, provide activities that focus your energies in a positive direction, engage you with strategies to manage your feelings, and give you and your immediate family members options if stress from the inauguration becomes overwhelming.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and want to speak with a qualified masters/doctoral level mental health professional 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, call 1-800-227-6007.  Log into the IMPACT Solutions Portal.  To access these resources:

  1. Go to
  2. On the top right, click “My Life Expert Login”.
  3. On the right side, click “Sign Up” to create a new account with the company code.
  4. Enter CWRU’s company code (cwrueap) and click “Next”.
  5. Enter your CWRU email address and click “Next”.
  6. Create a username. It is not the same as your email address, however, for ease you may want to use your network ID (abc123) as your username. Then, click “Submit”.
  7. Check your email for a message from Enter the 5-character code from the email in the box. Then, click “Verify Your Code”.
  8. Create a password. Password must be at least 8 characters and can be any combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. Enter your password again in the “Repeat Password” field and click “Submit”.
  9. You will be directed to a Log In page. Log in using your username and password.
