What made you want to study at a U.S. university?
I was a professional boxer in China for about 10 years before I moved to the United States. I believed that I could not be a boxer for my whole life so I needed to learn something else. Also, I wanted to learn another culture and a new language. I always thought the U.S. was a great country..

What do you miss most about your home country?
I miss the food from my hometown. There are so many kinds of food in China—I just can’t stop missing them! I always cook Chinese food in my apartment here for my friends.

How has your global perspective changed now that you have studied in the U.S.?
My perspective changed after I arrived. Cleveland isn’t the biggest city but I feel comfortable here. I like the environment and humanistic thought here. I want to invite my parents and grandparents to come here and enjoy the comfortable life!

What is a fun place you have visited in the Cleveland area?
The dog beach by Lake Erie is my favorite place in Cleveland. I enjoy the different views each season—it is always really beautiful!

What advice would you give to students arriving to study at CWRU?
I would like to tell all international students to buy a car and learn to drive as soon as you arrive here. Being able to drive will really make your American life easier. After that, my advice is to make as many friends as you can!

What would you like to do after you have completed your educational experience at CWRU?
I would like to find a job here and work hard in my career area. I want to live in the United States and enjoy a great life here with my family.
