International Student Advisory Council

International Student Advisory Council Headshot Collage 2 2022-2023

The Office of International Student Services (ISS) created the International Student Advisory Council (ISAC) to improve support for and engagement with international students at Case Western Reserve University.

The council includes undergraduate and graduate student representatives of the international student body who work on projects within ISS to hone their leadership skills and engage with the campus community to increase outreach and advocacy.

In order for the ISAC to be truly representative of the international student body, ISS selects applicants from across campus and as many of the various nationalities on campus as possible.

Once the ISAC members are selected each year, ISS staff provides guidance and makes recommendations about areas of focus, but also empowers members to suggest and investigate other opportunities.

Goals of the Advisory Council

The ISAC will benefit international students, ISS and the campus community in multiple ways:

  • Provide ideas, guidance, and/or advice to ISS on topics including student engagement, event planning, communication strategies, etc.
  • Develop deliverables each year that will support Case Western Reserve's international students
  • Create a new direct line of communication between ISS staff and the university's international students
  • Build trust in ISS among the international student body
  • Facilitate relationships beyond international students' home country and area of study
  • Offer opportunities to connect following the pandemic
  • Give international students a stronger voice at Case Western Reserve
