Melanie GiaMaria is an adjunct professor and lecturer for the Human Trafficking Law Clinic. She assists in providing legal services to primarily juvenile trafficking survivors. GiaMaria works with the Safe Harbor Docket of Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court and promotes education and awareness for service providers, medical personnel, students and the community.
GiaMaria is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, earning a JD and a Masters in Social Science Administration. As part of GiaMaria’s practice, she has been the attorney for the Families at Risk program. Additionally, her clients are referred to her privately and by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, WomenSafe, Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence and the Cuyahoga County Courts. GiaMaria has established and facilitated several local prison pet programs in the Cleveland area. These programs save animals while helping the caretakers rehabilitate and give back to the community.
