Remote Access To Law Casebooks and Textbooks

The law library will provide free, secured electronic access to all three major textbook publishers, LexisNexis, Wolters Kluwer and West Academic for off-campus usage. The electronic casebooks are accessible off the law library A-Z database.

Lexis Textbooks (i.e, Carolina Academic Press)

LexisNexis has loaded the entire catalog of the Carolina Academic Press casebooks onto the Lexis Digital Library. Students will need to go in and find their specific casebooks.

West and Foundation Press Textbooks (West Academic Press)

Each student needs to set up a West Academic account at before they call in at 877.888.1330 (ext.4) to set up their eBook(s). If the student already has an online study aid account, they can use their existing account. This offer with West Academic is only available for each student's required textbooks. 

Wolters Kluwer Textbooks (in partnership with VitalSource)

VitalSource Helps Access Instructions:

  1. To get started, students should visit and log-in or create a Bookshelf account with their institution-provided email address. 
  2. Here are instructions on creating a Bookshelf account for both students and instructors.
  3. Once students create an account with an institution-provided email address, they should log in and click on the “Explore” tab in the upper left corner of the screen. This tab provides access to the freely available e-textbooks.

Many students may already have ebook access to their casebook content via the Wolters Kluwer Connected Casebook Web site.

This access code can be found inside the first page of their casebook. (This of course assumes that they have their printed text in their possession.) The Connected Casebook is an all-in-one learning solution that combines the print casebook with lifetime access to at no additional cost. features a full ebook version of the casebook, a time-saving outline tool, and a study center filled with a wealth of learning and self-assessment materials, all available through the cloud anytime/anywhere on your computer or tablet.

West Student Hornbooks

West Student Hornbooks are available at the West Academic Study Aid link under the law library link to eBooks/Study Aids. Virtually almost any study aid that a professor recommends is available under the LexisNexis, West Academic, or Wolters Kluwer Study Aids links.
