Every year, Forbes magazine selects an elite group of high-achieving undergraduate and graduate students from across the nation to obtain a scholarship to attend its celebrated Forbes Under 30 Summit.  Among the invited students was CWRU 2L Justin Hill, President of the Law School's Black Law Students Association.

Based on his application, including an essay about leadership and diversity, Hill was selected as a Forbes Under 30 Scholar to attend the 2019 event in Detroit from October 27-30, 2019.  The summit showcased 220 speakers, including entrepreneurs, artists, engineers, musicians, CEOs, and tennis superstar Serena Williams.  Forbes describes its annual summit as "more of an immersive experience than a static conference: a private music festival, A-list speakers, investor speed-pitching, industry-focused field trips ... and a powerful day of community service."

And what did Hill take away from the experience? "Not only did I get to network with other professionals my age, but I also got the opportunity to hear multi-million-dollar business owners, innovators, and executives speak about their journeys to success and offer advice. The piece of advice that resonated with me the most is that everybody wants to “fit in,” but the key is: don’t. Find your niche and build on that."
