Law-Medicine Center Director Maxwell J. Mehlman spoke at Harvard University’s 2019 Petrie-Flom Center Annual Conference (with Ronald A. Conlon, Associate Professor of Genetics and Genome Sciences at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine) about Governing Non-Traditional Biology. Mehlman, a principal investigator, and Conlon, co-investigator, were recently awarded a $160,000 two-year grant from the National Human Genome Research Institute at NIH. The funding will be used to explore whether alternate governance approaches are needed to ensure non-traditional genetic experiments are conducted safely and ethically.
