Undergraduate & Graduate Student Groups


Spectrum is a UDC-recognized student group at Case Western Reserve University. Spectrum aims to provide an environment where LGBTQQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and allied) persons can socialize, learn, and grow. It is operated by and serves the needs of undergraduate students.

QGrad is a graduate and professional association for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, and all students along the sexual orientation and gender identity spectrum (LGBTQA+) and allied students. QGrad hosts events and workshops on topics such as navigating workplace politics as a LGBT student, intimate partner violence awareness for same-gender partners, and personal and professional development sessions.


Theta Pi Sigma

Theta Pi Sigma is a gender inclusive, LGBTQ focused, social greek organization at Case Western Reserve University. Our missions are to ensure that the greek life experience is accessible to everyone regardless of gender identity, to promote and develop leaders in LGBTQ activism, to support and uplift the LGBTQ community of the Greater Cleveland area, and to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all students at Case Western Reserve University. 


Lambda Law Student Association

A social, political, and activist group for students in the School of Law that aspires to co-sponsor LGBT-related lectures, conferences, and other events with student organizations on campus and in the community.

Mandel Allies

Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences Group for LGBT Students: a social and activist group for students in that school. 


PEOPLE in Medicine

People of Every Orientation Protecting Liberty & Equality in Medicine (PEOPLE in Medicine) is a political and social organization for LGBT students in the School of Medicine that aspires to conduct community service projects and advocate for LGBT health-policy issues. 


Staff & Faculty Groups

CWRU Newcomers Group

The CWRU Newcomers Group (formerly Committee) is a program of the Office of Faculty Development. Since its founding in 1992 by Sarah Taylor, the Newcomers has brought together volunteers (faculty spouses/partners and faculty) to welcome new members of the faculty and administration, and their families, to the CWRU community. Volunteers answer questions regarding the campus, University Circle cultural institutions, greater Cleveland, and any other topics that will assist you in your transition to CWRU.

LGBTQA Committee

The university's LGBTQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, and Allies) Committee is a group of senior administrators, faculty, staff, and graduate and undergraduate students who are committed to creating a safe and comfortable environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning people and allies at Case Western Reserve University. 

LGBTQ Research Group

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning and Allies (LGBTQA) Research Group is a joint project of the Office of Faculty Development, the LGBT Center and the CWRU Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning and Allies (LGBTQA) Committee. This new interdisciplinary group of faculty, staff, and administrators focuses on scholarly endeavors and research projects and/or initiatives related to LGBTQ studies.

The mission of the Flora Mather Center for Women is to promote the well-being and advancement of women through education and advocacy.


Office of Multicultural Affairs

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) encourages, supports, and facilitates the success of all Case Western Reserve students by providing opportunities for diverse interaction and cultural education that occurs outside of the classroom environment. 


Social Justice Institute

Through cooperation, communication and collaboration the Social Justice Institute supports innovative and synergistic research, scholarship and pedagogy, builds and supports social justice leaders, and forges productive relationships across boundaries within the university and into the community. 


University Health & Counseling Service

University Health and Counseling Service provides healthcare and counseling for students of Case Western Reserve University.  In addition, this department sponsors an annual pizza party, welcoming graduate and professional students to the University. The event, held in August, allows graduate and professional students to meet faculty, staff, and students who are LGBT and allies.
