This course will examine the evidence for Greek religious practice, focusing especially on the period of the ancient Greek city-state (c.1100-323 BCE) and studying three important sanctuaries: the sanctuary of Zeus at Olympia, the sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi, and the Athenian Akropolis, and the roles they played in the Greek world.
