This course will address a number of crises in modern Jewish history and the responses of various artists. Examination of the cases of known anti-Semitic artists raises the question if this diminishes our appreciation of their works? We will also explore artists who treat the Holocaust as well as contemporary Holocaust monuments. Lastly, Roy Lichtenstein and his important achievements will be discussed in addition to his works for Israel.
