For years Bill Rudman has told audiences that the Broadway and Hollywood musical is essentially a Jewish American art form. In this talk he’ll explain why—and tell us about the upcoming The Musical Theater Project/Kent State University production of Rothschild and Sons, a musical based on a true story from the pages of world history: How Mayer Rothschild and his five sons broke out of the Frankfurt ghetto in late 18th-century Europe and created a financial dynasty that exists to this day. The musical was written by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, composer and lyricist of Fiddler on the Roof.
