This lecture will inform participants on the successes and limitations of finding drugs from nature including examples of clinically used drugs (aspirin, taxol, etc.) with natural origins. Additionally, content will discuss traditional medicines and ethnobotany and how scientists have looked to cultural anthropology for inspiration in pharmaceutical development.
