OHIO ROLLER DERBY AND THE ART OF COLLECTIVISM (REMOTE)

This lecture will discuss the necessity of community and collective work in the sport AND business of roller derby. Ohio Roller Derby, one of the founding teams in the international Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, has lasted more than 15 years through the volunteer effort of skaters, officials, and league members. From marketing and production, to recruitment and serving on the board of directors, all while training for, playing, and coaching, Amy and Sam’s experience in wildly varying roles prepared them for their latest and greatest: co-authoring a book as collective as their roller derby league.
