Happening @ dirLAB
[June 3, 2019 | Xiao Liu's MS Thesis Defense]
Xiao has successfully presented his MS thesis research, entitled "Automated Facial Emotion Recognition for Human-Robot and Human-Computer Interaction." Congratulations!
[May 31, 2019 | IEEE Spectrum Video Friday]
Our WheeLer robot video was featured as one of the best robot videos from the world's largest robotics conference, ICRA. Check out IEEE Spectrum Video Friday!
[May 24, 2019 | Chuanqi Zheng & Kiju Lee]
Chuanqi and Dr. Lee presented dirLAB's latest robot "WheeLeR" at ICRA 2019 held in Montreal, Canada.
[May 7, 2019 | New DARPA Research Grant]
"α-SWAT: Adaptable Human-Swarm Teaming Via Visuo-Sensorimotor Interfaced Collaboration"
Dr. Lee receives new grant from the DARPA OFFensive Swarm-Enabled Tactics (OFFSET) progam (PI: Lee, Co-PIs: Fu, Tyler, and Newmann). This project funded by DARPA OFFensive Swarm-Enabled Tactics (OFFSET) program aims to enhance human -swarm collaborative interaction and advance multi-user interfaces to convey context-dependent visualization, intent-extraction, and haptic feedback. The team will develop and evaluate an adaptable human-swarm teaming (α-SWAT) system that integrates collaborative decision making algorithms with mixed really visualization and sensorimotor haptic interfaces.
[April 6 | Xiao Liu, Xiangyi Cheng, and Kiju Lee]
Woody can "feel" how you feel. Our work on facial emotion recognition and its social robotics applications has been featured in several online articles.
[March 8 | Chuanqi Zheng and Kiju Lee]
We are excited to introduce our new reconfigurable wheel mechanism, called "WheeLeR" (Wheel-Leg Reconfigurable mechanism). Our work on this transformable wheels will be presented at IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) in Montreal, Canada, May 20-24, 2019.
[January 16, 2019 | dirLAB: Research Grant]
A project led by Dr. Lee, entitled "Interactive block games for routine cognitive assessment in older adults at high risk of Alzheimer's disease" is selected for one of four projects funded by the CWRU Technology Validation and Start-up Funds Program.
Read more about this program and our project (and three other selected projects) from Case Daily.
