Cerebellar and Posterior Cerebral Artery Infarctions: Diffusion-weighted MRI scans. Note the acute infarctions in the right cerebellum and left occipital/temporal lobe. This picture is consistent with either: 1) an embolus to the posterior circulation or 2) a right vertebral occlusion (resulting in the cerebellar strokes with a subsequent artery-to-artery embolus to the left posterior cerebral artery). In this case, the etiology was found to be an occlusion of the right vertebral artery. |
