Pneumocephalus - Case 1

A 75 year-old woman slipped and fell backwards hitting the right side of her head posteriorly.

Show the Intracranial Air ("Pneumocephalus")

Pneumocephalus: Axial CT scans. Note the several extremely dark small circular areas. These are areas of intracranial air (pneumocephalus). In this case, the patient suffered a skull fracture when she fell backwards, which allowed the entry of air intracranially.
