My name is Michael Flatt. I have a Ph.D in sociology from CWRU. I am an assistant professor of sociology at Cuyahoga Community College, with an adjunct appointment to the department of bioethics at CWRU School of Medicine. My research interests include gender, race, and sexuality. I teach the short-term study abroad course in Paris, France. This course compares the French and American medical systems, with particular emphasis on the ways in which life and death decisions are made. It is the perfect spring break course for anyone with wants to understand how French culture, history, and the arts influences biomedical decision making.
