I am delighted to introduce you to the Neurosurgery Residency Training Program at the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine.
Our mission is to train the neurosurgical leaders of the future, and we have an intense commitment to resident education. The Case Western Reserve Department of Neurological Surgery combines the power of a large bustling academic medical center with the intimacy of in-depth, one-on-one, apprenticeship training supervised by an extraordinary faculty, with national leaders in virtually every neurosurgical subspecialty.
Residents enjoy a uniquely collegial relationship with the faculty, and resident teaching goes on daily -- at the bedside and in the OR -- with an extraordinary volume of cases in all degrees of complexity. Residency training is enhanced by strong collaborations with colleagues in allied specialties including Neurology, Pediatric Neurology, Neuroradiology, Neuropathology and Neurosciences.
Conferences are frequent and varied, including a newly designed Surgical Skills Laboratory, and residents have the opportunity to design their own elective and research rotations.
The Neurological Surgery Residency Program at Case Medical Center is demanding but exceptionally rewarding. The Case Western Reserve University Department of Neurological Surgery has a rich academic history. Many graduates have gone on to become department chairs or leaders in their field. We are deeply committed to continuing this long tradition of neurosurgical excellence.
Sincerely,
Nicholas C. Bambakidis, MD
Residency Program Director
