Rosanna P. Watowicz, PhD, RDN, LD

Rosanna Watowicz is a registered dietitian and assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition. Her research is focused on clinical treatment of pediatric obesity and she is particularly interested in effective treatments for children with severe obesity. She also has experience conducting nutrition-related secondary analysis using data from NHANES, a continuous survey of health and nutrition in the United States. Dr. Watowicz practiced clinically for several years before joining the CWRU faculty and still enjoys working with patients whenever possible. Dr. Watowicz teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses within the department and loves to see students excited about the field of nutrition. Her goal is to train compassionate and evidence-based health care professionals. Dr. Watowicz completed her undergraduate degree at Miami University in Ohio, and her master’s degree, dietetic internship, and Ph.D. at The Ohio State University.

Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis
Course Description: Methods for the provision of nutrition services to individuals and groups. Principles of professional practice including ethics, standards, and regulatory issues.

Seminar in Dietetics I
Course Description: Study of evidence-based guidelines for dietetic practice in medical nutrition therapy. Emphasis on life cycle stages and common disease states that require specialized nutrition care.

NTRN 456
Pediatric Obesity
Course Description: This course examines the epidemiology, potential causes, assessment, and treatment of pediatric obesity. Special topics from the current pediatric obesity literature will also be covered. This course has a large discussion component and incorporates weekly readings from the scientific literature.
