Wharton Summer Student Research

Program Details

The Wharton Summer Student Research Program is a paid, 10-week opportunity for rising junior and senior undergraduate students in nutrition to participate in research projects under the direction of faculty members in the Department of Nutrition and nutrition researchers in the greater Cleveland area. 

Participating students receive a stipend and are expected to devote 32-40 hours per week to their projects for the full 10 weeks.  Wharton Summer Research opportunities will occur from May 28, 2024 until August 2, 2024.

Eligibility and Applications

Current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who have declared a major in Nutrition or Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism no later than January 26, 2024 and have not previously participated in the Wharton Program are eligible to apply for a Wharton Summer Student Research project.  Preference will be given to sophomores and juniors (rising juniors and seniors in Summer 2024), though exceptional freshman (rising sophomores) will also be considered. Graduating seniors are not eligible.

Applicants are encouraged to attend an information session to learn more about the available projects. These will occur on:

  • Fri, Feb 2, 12-1pm, BRB 105
  • Tues, Feb 13, 3-4pm, BRB 105

The 2024 application is available here and is due on February 16, 2024 by 5pm Eastern. Application decisions will be issued by mid-March.
