Dr. Lyu earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular biology from Department of Pharmacology of Wuhan University in China in 2017, where she studied the biosynthesis of antibiotics in streptomyces, especially the biosynthesis of aminoglycoside antibiotics apramycin and potential anti-leishmania drug A33853. Upon completion of her Ph.D., Dr. Lyu continued her work in Wuhan University as a postdoc research fellow. Meanwhile, in 2018, she joined Dr. Edward Yu’s lab as a visiting scholar and postdoc researcher in the Department of Pharmacology of School of Medicine in Case Western Reserve University, where she started her interest to work on the protein structures using cryo-EM. She is now an instructor of the Department of Pharmacology, focusing on determining the structural and functional mechanism of transporter proteins from eukaryotic, as well as prokaryotic organisms.
