Jessica Gogan - President
Hello, my name is Jessica Gogan and I attended Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where I earned a B.S. in Chemistry. During my time in Columbus, I worked as a patient care associate on an infectious disease unit at Wexner Medical Center. I am the President of the PA class of 2022 and one of the Recruitment and Training board members at the CWRU Student-Run Health Clinic. When I am not at school, I love to spend time with family and practice cooking new recipes.
Alex Goodwin - Vice President
Hello! I attended the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, earning a B.S. in Exercise Physiology. My prior healthcare experience involved working as a physical therapy aid throughout college and a medical assistant for an orthopedic hand surgeon. In addition to being Vice President of our PA class of 2022, I also help lead our mentorship program. I was born in Maryland, but grew up in the United Kingdom and most recently have been calling Texas my home since 2012. In my spare time, I love cooking dishes from scratch, playing board games, and golfing.
Mike Gray - Treasurer
Hi, my name is Mike Gray and I am a lifelong Clevelander. I graduated from Kent State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Integrative Studies. I also was a Research Assistant in a Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory as well as a Chemistry Laboratory at Kent. My previous healthcare experiences include working as a Mental Health Tech, Perioperative Services Support Tech, and EEG Tech. I am also a member of the media committee for the CWRU Student-Run Health Clinic and an outreach coordinator for St. Herman’s House men’s shelter.
Krista Feind - Secretary
Hello! I’m Krista and I’m from Buffalo, NY! I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in Biomedical Sciences. While in undergrad, I worked as an ER scribe and a cardiology scribe. Currently, I’m the class secretary as well as a member of the SRHC media team. I have been accepted as a Paul Ambrose scholar for my project focusing on trauma-informed care in women’s health. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, reading and playing with dogs.
Tori Bandyopadhyay - SDCR Student Diversity Representative
Hello, my name is Tori Bandyopadhyay, and I grew up in the Cleveland area! I attended Emory University in Atlanta where I received my BS in biology and completed a minor in comparative literature. Before PA school, I worked as a clinical research coordinator in the Emory Urology department and volunteered with Rainbow Connects at the Rainbow Center for Women and Children in Cleveland. I’m currently Diversity Rep for our class, a member of TEAM to usher in the incoming class, and a coordinator for St. Herman House men’s shelter. During my free time, I love spending time with my new kitten and learning how to cook new recipes.
Kristen Byrne - Outreach Chair
Hi, I’m Kristen! I am from Cleveland and love this city! I graduated from Miami University where I studied Kinesiology. Prior to PA school, I worked as a Patient Care Nursing Assistant at the Cleveland Clinic where I rotated throughout the hospital. I also had the opportunity to volunteer with Providence House and Boys Hope Girls Hope here throughout the Greater Cleveland area. I am the current Outreach Chair for our class, as well as a co-leader for the Twinsburg and John Hay Advocacy Program. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends & family and cheering on the Browns!
Houser Duncan - AOR Alternative
Hello, my name is Houser Duncan. I’m from Spanish Fork, Utah. I graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelors's in Exercise Science. Before starting PA school I worked as a medical scribe and a physical therapy aide. Currently, I am the AOR alternative, an outreach coordinator for ST. Herman’s House and Nutrition Detectives/Oral Health. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors, eating Mitchell's ice cream, and spending time with my wife. I am so grateful to be part of this CWRU PA family.
Tyler Fitzgerald - Graduate Student Representative
Hello, my name is Tyler and I am from Youngstown, Ohio. I graduated from Cleveland State University in May 2017. I previously worked as a Lymphedema physical therapy aide and served in AmeriCorps throughout the Northeast Ohio region. I am currently the Graduate Student Representative for the CWRU PA Program, a Hudson Heartbeat editor, and a coordinator for a new project servicing refugees that will be implemented within the next year. During my free time, I enjoy date nights with my partner, traveling, and discovering new restaurants.
Jacob Gaare - BGSO Representative, HEC Governance Representative
Hello, my name is Jacob Gaare, and I’m from sunny Arizona! I attended Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ where I received my BS in biology with an emphasis in genetics. Before PA school, I worked as a student research coordinator at Arizona General in the burn unit, a physical therapy aide in an upper extremity clinic, a medical scribe in an emergency department, and a patient care technician in a neonatal ICU. I am a co-leader for the Twinsburg and John Hay High School Advocacy Program, a co-chair for the HEC governance committee, a BGSO co-chair, and a member of the SRHC’s development board. During my free time, I love to read, run/workout, eat Mitchell’s ice cream, and enjoy Ohio’s natural beauty.
Aaron Harvey - Environmental Chair, Editor of Crackin' the Case
Hi everyone! My name is Aaron and I’m from San Diego, California. As much as I enjoyed growing up on the west coast, it has been such a cool experience being able to travel and live in Ohio and experience seasons and snow for once! I’m an avid outdoors person and really love exploring, going on random adventures, and enjoying all the amazing opportunities nature has to offer, which is why I am proud to serve as Environmental Chair. I am also one of the editors for Case’s Crackin’ the Case research newsletter. Proud to be pursuing my medical education at CWRU and representing the PA profession within the Cleveland community!
Nathan Hashagen - State Chapter Student Representative
Hello, my name is Nathan Hashagen. I am from State College, Pennsylvania. As a non-traditional student, I completed some college right out of high school but ultimately took some time off to figure my life out. I eventually received an A.S. in Surgical Technology from the Community College of Allegheny County. I later completed my B.S. in Life Science at The Pennsylvania State University while working as a Surgical Technologist in Robotics, Urology, and Gynecology. Here at Case, I am the State Chapter Student Representative (SCSR), also known as the OAPA rep. I am also one of the coordinators for a project that started this past year aimed at serving refugees within the community.
Rebecca Knaley - HEC Governance Representative
My name is Rebecca, I graduated from the University of Cincinnati last May with a BS in Neuroscience. Before starting PA school at Case, I worked inpatient on an orthopedic surgery floor and have experience working on a multidisciplinary team to counsel patients on smoking cessation and lifestyle changes. I am one of two PA student representatives on the Health Education Campus Intergovernance Council. We work to promote an interprofessional learning environment at the HEC.
Ann Husayno - Committee of Student Reps
Hi! My name is Ann Husayno. I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Kinesiology. Before starting PA school I worked as an optometric technician for over 5 years and then as a medical scribe for an Endocrinologist for 2 years. I am currently the School of Medicine Committee of Student representatives liaison for the PA class. In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball, trying new foods, and spending time with my family and friends!
Natasha Nand - Wellness Committee Co-Chair
HI! My name is Natasha. I’m from San Francisco, California. I graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Physiology. After graduation, I took a year off to work as a Pediatric medical assistant and travel in my spare time. I am so happy to be a part of CWRU’S PA Class of 2022. I am a member of the PA Wellness Committee and an outreach coordinator for St. Herman House. In my spare time, I like to explore Cleveland since I’m still so new here!
Amy Matia - AAPA Student Academy Representative
As an undergraduate, I attended Miami University where I studied Zoology and minored in Neuroscience. After graduation, I worked in clinical research. Currently, I am the CWRU representative to the Assembly of Representatives, which is the legislative body of the Student Academy of the AAPA. I am also heavily involved in CWRU PA’s endeavors to support Covid-19 vaccination clinics in the Cleveland- Akron area.
Emily Nemi - Wellness Committee Co-Chair
Hi! My name is Emily Niemi and I attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. I received my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences and spent a year working in a memory care home before starting school at CWRU. I lived in Michigan all my life so it’s been great moving to Cleveland and in my free time I enjoy exploring all the areas nearby. I am currently a co-chair on the Wellness Committee and I also serve as a student outreach coordinator for St. Herman House.
Nancy Nguyen - BGSO Student Representative
Hello! I went to the University of Maryland - College Park and studied Biological Sciences with a concentration in Neurobiology and Physiology. My main healthcare experiences include being an emergency department scribe, dermatology medical assistant, and EMS volunteer. I am originally from Maryland near the D.C. area. In my free time, I like to cook, play with my cat Matcha, and hang out with friends.
Anna Riddle - Wellness Committee
Hi, I’m Anna. I’m from a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA. I attended Bethany College where I played soccer and graduated with my B.S. in Biochemistry. Following undergrad, I attended George Washington University in their Master’s in Health Care Quality program. Prior to PA school, I worked as an EMT for four years. I’m currently a part of the PA Wellness Committee and an outreach coordinator for St. Herman’s House men’s shelter. During my free time, I love to hike at the different Metroparks with my dog.
Kevin Torres - Inter Society Council Representative
Hello, I’m Kevin. I’m originally from Ecuador but I’ve lived most of my life in NJ. I attended Rutgers University where I received my BA in Psychology and I also attended Kean University where I received my BS in Biology. Prior to PA school, I was an EMT. As an EMT I volunteered 911 for five years and worked in medical transport for seven years. During my free time, I like to play music and learn about history.
Shirley Yee - Zebra Hoofbeats Diversity Newsletter Editor
My name is Shirley, and I grew up in the Cleveland area which has been my home sweet home! I attended the University of Toledo in Ohio, where I earned my B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Prior to PA school, I did neuroscience research and also worked as a scribe in the ED and a medical assistant in dermatology. Currently, I am part of the interprofessional team of editors for the Zebra Hoofbeats diversity newsletter and serve as Secretary for the CWRU Student-Run Health Clinic. I am also one of the coordinators working on a new project dedicated to serving refugees in the community. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing/designing, playing badminton, and trying new foods!
