Professor Emerita of Radiation Oncology
Laboratory research regarding fundamental biological mechanisms of cancer biology and the responses of cells, tumors and normal tissues to radiation exposure provides the proving ground for therapeutic intervention. The faculty members in the Division of Radiobiology are investigating novel mechanisms of cancer development and treatment to complement and drive clinical research. Their research interest areas include:
- Deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA) damage repair;
- Radiosensitization;
- Hypoxia;
- Synthetic lethality;
- Cancer genetics;
- Cancer cell signaling;
- Stress responses; and others.
The radiobiologists also teach their field to graduate students and residents and interact with cancer researchers throughout the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center with the goal of improving the design of cancer treatments involving radiation along with other modalities.
Together, the clinicians, the physicists, and the radiobiologists all contribute to the dynamic nature of an evolving field that is at the forefront of patient care.
