ACTIVE RESEARCH
Nanoscopic patterning
I do theory related liquid crystal order near nanoscopic patterns scribed by AFM's by Rosenblatt's students.
Nanoscopic localization using light
Detection many fluorescent photons from a single isolated particle, or of a particle near an optically active colloid allows nanoscopic localization. I am doing theory to extend such localization experiments.
POTENTIAL IMPACT
This research will lead to a better understanding of liquid crystal statistical mechanics. It will also result in better techniques to localize particles, particularly biologically relevant particles, to biologically relevant distances.
