ACTIVE RESEARCH

Cancer Nanomedicine

Investigating nanocarriers for cancer-targeted delivery of chemotheray agents; Controlled and localized release of co-delivered chemotherapy agents and enhancing molecules; In vivo imaging of the carriers to examine fates of the drugs in the body; develping a cancer vaccine to activate and control immine responses using nanocarriers

Gene Therapy

sthesizing semi-artifical viral and polymeric vectors; functionalizing gene carriers for in vivo imaging, specific targeting, and easy preparation

Cell Therapy and Stem Cell Engineering

preapring stem cells of higher purity at large scale using bioreactors; genetically modifying stem cells for cell therapy; labeling cells for monitoring their in vivo behavior.

POTENTIAL IMPACT

This highly multi-disciplinary research focuses on therapeutic applications of nanotechnology. New nanomedicine will enable us to find efective ways of understanding, diagnosing, preventing, and treating many challenging diseases such as cancer, and inherited and acquired genetic disorders.
