MN Application Instructions

The Master of Nursing (Graduate Entry) Program is for students who are ready for a career in nursing and to receive a Master of Nursing degree. This graduate degree prepares students for practice as an advanced generalist registered nurse and to lead inter-professional, evidence-based initiatives to improve health care.

To Make Applying Easier

You will need a credit card to submit your $75 application fee, if applicable.

Submit your online application by March 1. Your application will be reviewed once all of your application materials are received, including those listed in the Application Instructions. Contact Admissions with any questions.

Content Required for Your Application

  • 3 Recommenders (names and email addresses). We prefer that you seek academic references—persons in a position to speak to your ability to complete graduate level work. At least one, preferably two, should be from a faculty person who taught you in a course. Personal references will not be accepted.
  • Essay. In one typewritten or word-processed page or less (single- or double-spaced is acceptable), write an essay delineating those life experiences which led you to seek preparation for professional nursing. Include a statement about your understanding of professional nursing practice (at both the RN and advanced practice levels) and, if possible, state your career objectives at this time.
  • Resume or CV. Include employment history, military service, extracurricular activities, academic and professional awards, community service, honors, fellowships, memberships and publications.
