Taipei students with Mayor Jackson

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson met with students from Asia University and Taipei Medical University in July 2017. The students are participating in a month-long educational nursing program at Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing.


Thailand + China visitors image

Saowaluck Settheekul (left), pre-doctoral student from Chiangmai University, Thailand is visiting the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing for six months. While at the school, she'll be working with Dr. Joachim Voss.

Dr. Chunhua Ma (in red), from Guangzhou Medical University, China is visiting the School of Nursing for one year, working with Drs. Mary Dolansky and Liz Madigan.

Faculty members from Wuhan University in China visited Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in July and August. They attended the Flight Nursing Summer Camp, and also learned more about critical care nursing.

Amy Bieda, PhD, APRN, PNP-BC, NNP-BC, assistant professor and director of the BSN Program and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program, gave a seminar on Evidence Based Practice in Nursing at Cairo University in Egypt May 3-7.

FPB Welcomes Fulbright Scholar

Fulbright Scholar Dr. Yu-Yun Hsu is visiting the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing from February to August 2016. Dr. Hsu is from Taiwan and her research focus is on neuroscience and sleep. Her mentors are Dr. Michael Decker and Dr. Lisa Damato.

FPB Graduate Students Participate in English Seminar

The School of Nursing's graduate international students are learning more about American culture, food/restaurants, idiomatic language, English writing skills, social interaction and American history in a seminar run by Educational Services for Students. Seven students from five different countries are participating in the six-week seminar this semester.

Taipei University Students Study Geriatric Nursing at FPB

‌Students from Taipei University, Taiwan, including six BSN students and two MSN students, spent July 2015 at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing studying in a Geriatric Nursing Education Program designed especially for them. The students also had the opportunity to meet Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson.

Preechawong Receives Award

‌Sunida Preechawong (NUR ’99, GRS ’04), an instructor at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, was awarded an Outstanding Research Award in Tobacco Control at the 10th anniversary celebration of the Tobacco Control and Knowledge Management Center (TRC) in Thailand.

The center has been supported by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation.


Irish Exchange Students 2015

Irish Exchange Students Arrive

Shauna Mcloughlin and Aisleen Clarke are exchange students from The National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland. They will spend the month of June at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing under the supervision of Dr. Mary Quinn-Griffin.


Post-Doctoral Fellow Arrives at FPB

‌Cristina Noriega, post-doctoral fellow from San Pablo CEU University, Spain. She will spend the three summer months working with Dr. Carol Musil on her Grandparents’ research project.

Pre-Doctoral Students Arrive at FPB

Xiaolin Hu (left), a pre-doctoral student from Sichuan University in China, arrived in Cleveland this winter. She will be staying at the School of Nursing for one year under the supervision of Dr. Mary Dolansky. Panicha Ponpinij, a pre-doctoral student from Thailand, will be visiting and learning at the School of Nursing for six months. Welcome!

Alumna Helen Gundani from Zimbabwe visited the School of Nursing this January. She graduated with her MSN in 1996.

The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing hosted a group of nine nursing students from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan for the month of July for an educational program in geriatric nursing.

Dr. Esra Al khasawneh (dean), Dr. Ahmad Abu Raddaha, FPB alumnus, and Mr. Sulaiman, from the College of Nursing at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, visited FPB from March 17 to 18, 2014.

The purpose of the visit was to learn about the accreditation process for their college of nursing.

Dr. Fusako Sato (left) and Ms. Mayumi Ito (right), two faculty members from Aichi Medical University, Japan visited Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing from March 17 to 19, 2014.

Dr. Sato’s main interest was in nurse practitioner practice. Ms. Ito’s focus was on fundamental nursing care. Dr. Sato is retiring the end of March. We wish her the best of luck and hope to keep our friendship and collaboration.

BSN Students from Japan

Three BSN students and Mr. Shinji Kondo from Aichi Medical University, Japan

Three BSN students and Mr. Shinji Kondo from Aichi Medical University, Japan participated in the annual one-week BSN training program from March 15 to 22, 2014 at FPB. During their stay, they shadowed and observed BSN students in classroom, lab, and clinical setting. They toured different local nursing facilities.

Four faculty members from Wuhan University, China visited FPB from January 20 to February 14, 2014. They observed our lecturers and students in the classroom, lab and clinical visits.
