Mentoring for women pursuing STEMM careers
Case Western Reserve University's Flora Stone Mather Center for Women supports the Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable (WISER), one of the most highly recognized student groups on campus made up of women in pursuit of STEMM careers. All women with a major in or planning a career in a science, engineering, technology, mathematics or medicine are welcome to be a part of WISER. The group's mission is to promote the inclusion and success of all women pursuing a STEMM-related career at CWRU through leadership, mentorship and outreach.
Perhaps WISER's most popular program is the WISER Peer Mentor Program, in which a first-year student is paired with an upper-class student with a similar major or career goal. There are regularly scheduled programs, events and guest speakers throughout each semester to provide mentor pairs the opportunity to socialize, advise, encourage and support each other. Students find that having a WISER mentor is a valuable way to develop connections and gain inside knowledge about navigating the CWRU campus.
Students can apply to mentor of be mentored during the 2016-2017 school year by visiting the WISER website and joining the group.
