Welcome to the 2016-17 school year
I’m thrilled to welcome our 5,100 undergraduate students to campus for 2016–17 school year. Nothing is more rejuvenating than seeing students filling our residence halls, sidewalks and classrooms and reuniting with their friends and mentors. I trust your students’ summers were productive ones, complete with travel, study, research, employment and more. We at Case Western Reserve have likewise been keeping busy.
This summer saw the naming of a north side residential hall in honor of late alumna and Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones; the announcement of an innovative urban landscape project that will connect the western edge of the university’s main campus to The Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center at The Temple – Tifereth Israel; and, of course, Cleveland’s first major sports championship in 52 years (Go Cavs!).
This week we will celebrate the beginning of the academic year during Fall Convocation with Pulitzer Prize winning author Anthony Doerr; varsity athletes in soccer, volleyball, cross country and football will open their seasons; and budding entrepreneurs will pitch their business plans to compete for awards during Launch CWRU Weekend.
I hope you and your students are as energized as we are by the excitement at Case Western Reserve. I look forward to sharing updates with you throughout the year at case.edu/parents and in person during Homecoming and Parents Weekend, Oct. 13 to 16.
As always, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 216.368.1352 with any questions or concerns.
