Ohio Collaborative Community Police Advisory Board - Developmentally Appropriate Policing & Positive Youth Interactions

Police youth interaction

New Police-Youth Minimum Standard Established by Ohio Collaborative Board were released in May 2022. They give law enforcement an outline of best practices when interacting with youth. “Today’s adoption of the Police-Youth Interaction standard illustrates the important collaborative mindset of the Community-Police Advisory Board,” said Karen Huey, assistant director of the Ohio Department of Public Safety and chair of the Collaborative. Community members pushed for the adoption of the youth interaction standard. By addressing law enforcement concerns, all involved reached a consensus, met their goals to provide achievable measures, and unanimously adopted the standards.
