Career Connections Night on February 15 To Connect Students With Alumni

One of the most popular events of the school year, Career Connections Night, is scheduled for Wednesday, February 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Mandel Center Room 115.

First and second year MSSA and MNO students can casually connect with nearly 20 MSSA and MNO alumni from throughout Northeast Ohio, who have positions in both direct practice and community practice. Students will receive dinner, 1 PD hour, career advice and can build contacts with industry professionals to get a head start on the job search process.

Students may also receive resume tips from a Case Career Center representative, who can provide suggested edits if the students already have a resume, or share best practices for those students just starting to work on their resumes.

Career Connections is presented by the Mandel School Alumni Association Board in partnership with the Case Career Center. The event is chaired by Alumni Board member Rachel Truelsch, MSSA 2015, who has sat on both sides of Career Connections tables, as a student and as an alumna.

“Being [an alumna], it is only clearer to me how vital relationships and networking are when it comes to access to opportunities and success in the field,” Truelsch told action magazine last year. “It’s also a two-way street, forming new relationships with students who will be in the working world soon. You never know when you might want to tap into those relationships.”

At Career Connections, students can network with alumni from City Year, Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, Cuyahoga Community College, Case Western Reserve (Counseling Services and the School of Dental Medicine, Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services, Cuyahoga County Department of Health and Human Services, The Emily Program: Real Help for Eating Disorders, Family & Personal Counseling Services, Kent Psychological Associates, Murtis Taylor Human Services System, Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation, Recovery Resources, Scott Schlacter Therapy, Senior Care Connections LLC, and Summit County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Service Board.
