Edwins Run for Re-Entry Volunteer Information

For those of you who may want to participate in our Mandel Team for Edwins Run for Re-Entry, here are the specifics of the positions where they need help.

Please plan to arrive at 8:30 to volunteer.

Pre-Registration – Number of volunteers needed: 3-4 @ 8:30 a.m. until just prior to the race begins @ 10 a.m.

Race Day Registration – Number of volunteers needed: 2 @ 8:30 a.m. until just prior to the race begins @ 10 a.m.

Water Stop – Number of volunteers needed: 3-4 @ 9:30 a.m. until the race ends @ approximately 11:30 a.m.

Course Marshals – Number of volunteers needed: 10 @ 9:30 a.m. until the race ends @ approximately 11:30 a.m.

Timers – Number of volunteers needed: 2 @ 9:30 a.m. until the race ends @ approximately 11:30 a.m.

Pre-Registration – 3 Volunteers to distribute bibs and 1 Volunteer to get them the t-shirts

  • All participants are alphabetized by last name.
  • Look up the participant’s last name and pull the bib out of the pile. Keep the piles of bibs rubber-banded together – it is easier to flip through and prevents bibs from getting lost or misplaced.
  • Shirt sizes are on the last line of the label. Call out the shirt size to your shirt volunteer and they will give you the correct size.
  • Have the participant double check their information on their bib. If information is incorrect or missing, send them to a Hermes representative.
  • If you cannot find a participant send them to a Hermes representative.
  • Refer any problems or issues to a Hermes representative.
  • Volunteers should arrive at least thirty minutes prior to the start of registration (8:30 a.m.).

New Registrations – 1 Volunteer is needed to take money for new registrations and 1 to get shirts

  • Refer any problems or issues to a Hermes representative.
  • Cost to register is $30
  • Write the bib number on the lower right hand corner of the entry form. A Hermes representative will periodically collect the entry forms for data entry.
  • Keep all cash and checks paper clipped to the entry form. Make change as needed with the money in the cash box provided.
  • Mark any additional donations on the participant’s entry form.
  • Volunteers should arrive at least thirty minutes prior to the start of registration (8:30 a.m.).

Water Stop

  • Volunteers can go directly to water stop; they do not need to check in.
  • Pour water into cups 1/2 – 3/4 of the way full.
  • Have 100-150 ready before runners arrive.
  • Volunteers should be in position at least 30 minutes prior to race start time (9:30 a.m.).

Course Marshals – 1 volunteer at each location on the course map provided (areas are marked with a V)

  • Volunteers can go directly to location; they do not need to check in.
  • Guide runners to where they need to go.
  • Volunteers should be in position 30 minutes prior to race start time (9:30 a.m.).

Timers – 1 timer at the 1 mile marker and 1 timer at the 2 mile marker

  • Yell out times as runners go by.
  • Timers should be in position 30 minutes prior to race start time (9:30 a.m.).
