Peer Support Events

The Center for Evidence-Based Practices is participating in the statewide peer-support initiative of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS). The initiative is hosting three events to support and promote the advancement of peer support in community-based behavioral healthcare organizations.

1. Peer Support Technical-Assistance Call.
November 12, 2015 / 12:00 to 1:00 pm / Teleconference / $0, Free / Each “Peer Support Technical-Assistance Call” provides an accessible venue for paid and volunteer peer-support staff to share information about their work; develop supportive networks; share challenges from the workplace; and seek consultation about solutions.

2. Peer Employment Mentoring (PEM) Train the Trainer.
November 30 – December 2, 2015 / Columbus, OH / This “Peer Employment Mentoring (PEM) Train the Trainer” event is hosted by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS). It is available for 20 individuals with a lived experience of mental illness or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders who are currently working with a provider that promotes employment as recovery.

3. Benefit Planning Training.
December 3, 2015 / Columbus, OH / $0, Free / This “Benefit Planning Training” is hosted by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS). The event is available to 20 individuals with a lived experience of mental illness or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders who are currently working with a provider that promotes employment as recovery and will use Benefit Planning Training as part of its employment expectation.
