Two for One…Poland as an Emigration and Immigration Country

Please join us at Mandel Center room 106 on Thursday, November 17th at 12:45 PM. Dr. Magdalena Lesińska, a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Sociology from the Center of Migration Research, University of Warsaw, will present a lecture entitled Two for One…Poland as an Emigration and Immigration Country.  Over the past decade there has been a steady emigration from Poland, especially among young, educated Poles.  The inflow of foreigners to Poland has been primarily from Ukraine.  Poland presents an interesting case study because of its history and its position both in Central Europe and in the European Union.  Dr. Lesińska will focus on the social processes and challenges presented by emigration and immigration and the key role of NGO’s in the integration of immigrants in Polish society.

The Mandel Center is located at 1123 Bellflower Road on the CWRU campus.  1 PD hours is available for this event.  Please contact Dr. Kathleen Farkas for information (368.2276…kjf@case.edu).
