Emily Miller received her BA in Anthropology and Sociology from DePauw University in 2013 and her master of science in social administration (MSSA) from the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University in 2015. As a masters student, Emily worked at the International Services Center, a refugee resettlement agency, and as a program assistant at Cleveland Neighborhood Progress. From 2014 through 2019, she was a research assistant and program manager at the National Initiative on Mixed-Income Communities (NIMC), a research center focused on promoting inclusion and equity through mixed-income community development. At NIMC, she worked as a research assistant and program manager across a number of research projects and consulting engagements. Major projects that Emily conducted include the federal evaluation of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Jobs Plus program, engagements with Robert Wood Johnson Foundation exploring the intersection of mixed-income interventions and health, and coordinating the What Works to Promote Inclusive, Equitable Mixed-Income Communities volume, fifth volume in the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s What Works series. Emily’s current research interests include examining the relationship between policies and political decision-making on individual and community-level experiences of trauma.
