Jonathon E. Henry

Jonathon E. Henry, MSSA, LISW, CCM (He/Him) earned his Bachelors of Arts in Social Work from The University of Akron and his Masters of Science in Social Administration (MSSA) from Case Western Reserve University; his concentration was Adult Mental Health. He participated in the University Partnership Program (UPP), an undergraduate child welfare scholarship program during his undergraduate studies. In addition, he is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard Reserve. He is a former foster child and adopted youth. His passion derives from both personal and professional experiences. Jonathon began his career at Summit County Children Services as a licensed social worker advocating children's rights and identifying possible practice and policy modifications.

Jonathon serves on the Board of Directors for Kinnect Ohio. This Cleveland-based nonprofit focuses on supporting kinship caregivers so that children remain connected with their kin, community, and culture. He has worked with the organization's Program Evaluation Committee and utilizes his life narrative to advocate for others. He also serves as the Vice President of The Ohio Cleveland Association of Black Social Workers and the reporter for the Akron Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. In addition, he is a Licensed Minister and utilizes his faith to implement positive change in the community and church.

Jonathon is the Manager of the Social Work Program at Cleveland Clinic and serves on the Elder and Child Abuse Committee. Through his work and lived experiences, his passion for child welfare reform grew and led him to pursue his Ph.D.  His research interest includes achieving and maintaining permanency, kinship care, systematic trauma on children in care, and methods to decrease disproportionality and recurring trauma by reforming practice and policy standards.
